On Saturday 27th June 2009 Whipps Cross
Hospital Radio celebrated 40 years of broadcasting with an Anniversary Dinner at the Sir
Alfred Hitchcock Hotel in Whipps Cross Road, just a short distance from the hospital. Present-day members of the station mixed with names from the past to recall how the station has progressed from a weekly programme every Sunday night from a green wooden hut in the hospital grounds during the late 1960's, to the 24 hour station of today. |
| As part of the celebration, Hospital Broadcasting Association
President June Snowden presented long service awards to members of the station, ranging
from 10 years to 35 years service. Added up, they came to over 400 years! |
